By the light of the moon, we are guided through the nightime. It is our pleasure to gaze upon the celestial majesty of the New Moon or a Full Moon on a clear night. Our imaginations become wild with creative ideas and we may feel the desire to…to….HOOOOOWL! Let it out! Let the Moon effect you. Stop resisting it’s power and find a new way to channel it into your life. All living things, people or plant or animal alike, feel the movement and positioning and cycle of the moon. Plants grow or stagnate by her. Children become restless and the tides rise and fall. Any underlying conditions or emotional turmoil will come to the forefront of your mind during the phase of a Full Moon and more so when the Moon is New and Huge in the sky.
Creating a life that waxes and wanes and rises with the moon is a wonderful salute to holistic living! In a very real way, allowing the moon’s cycles to benefit our hair growth, or hair removal only makes sense. Let’s focus on the next major Moon cycle, which will be the one to take advantage of in maximizing Hair Growth or Hair Health. Because we are in Winter now…we must focus to the Spring Equinox. This is the ideal time for a trim, especially for those of us who only trim seasonally. The dates to keep in mind for each month can be found here: http://shop.morroccomethod.com/Lunar-Hair-Care

Anthony:
Especially notable in Anthony’s aura are 5 discernible “domes” emanating from the fuchsia-magenta streak. Anthony has founded his acclaimed Morrocco Method Int’l hair care enterprise on the basis of 5 elements that comprise our Universe (air, earth, fire, water & ether): this auric out- picturing of his corporate philosophy is quite fascinating!
This aura is exceptionally powerful in the intensity and variation of its color spectrum as well as the full size of the projection itself. Deep indigo blue, as the top stratum, indicates truth through conviction, further emphasizing a strong unification of Anthony’s business practice with his personal mission. The billowing of white just below reveals profound connection with the spiritual; that it travels virtually the complete horizontal distance across the Aura signifies Anthony’s success in personal evolution through lifelong learning and world travel.
The aforementioned fuchsia-magenta streak reveals abundant creativity, with its brightness suggesting a healthy amount of flamboyance as well! The golden “halo” completely enveloping Anthony’s crown and glowing onto his forehead identifies an intense thinker whose mind is always seeking new discoveries in what the rest of the world may ignore or take for granted. At the right shoulder area, scarlet and violet intermingling suggest a tremendous capacity for love — and emerald green showing at the left indicates deep connection with nature as well as a capacity for healing (self and others).
Anthony’s aura is certainly one that leaves little to be desired. However, the scarlet and gold blending into orange (on his left) reveal that ‘marching to the sound of a different drummer’ could at times veer off into non-productive eccentricity. This hue may also suggest a tendency to excessive worry. For the sake of balance and sustained healing, more of the forest green hue would be beneficial.
Thanks for reading!! Stay tuned for more information and for before and after aura pictures with MM products!!!
Morrocco Method has begun exciting new work with specialized aura photographers to show how the condition of your hair is reflected in colors that beam outward from the snapshot. These hues will differ in size, shape, variety and intensity depending upon whether the hair is virgin, dyed, damaged by environment or chemical processing, etc.
Aura pictures are extremely complex – there are entire books written about them. An excellent, concise one is “Auras: An Essay on the Meaning of Colors.” I have attempted to briefly summarize our MM objective with this aura project below.
Auras allow you to see an actual picture of your “Chi” — also know as the Ethereal Energies.
Kerri: Kerri “before”:
Kerri’s chemically treated hair in this first photo undoubtedly limits her aura potential. Although turquoise and hints of lavender-violet indicate an imaginative, spiritual nature, they are quite muted and the portion of green showing to her right looks anemic. Also, her skin tone is dulled.
Kerri “after”:
A combined application of MM Euro Oil and Diamond Crystal Mist — to neutralize and heal the thrashed condition of her hair — renders amazing changes in Kerri’s second photo. At the top, turquoise has coalesced into periwinkle (blue infused with violet), conveying the dual benefit of enhanced tranquility and calm wisdom. Also, Kerri’s facial skin now reflects more healthy, lifelike color, and a favorable portion of green healing energy shows up at her thyroid/throat chakra area. Completing this very successful picture is a feathering of white just above her head…reflection of a soul in perfect balance!
Isn’t it astonishing how much one’s aura can change depending on what products you use on your scalp? With that in mind, thank you for reading. Remember – our health is our wealth.
Why is this life force so important? Chi / Ether = personal life force; the individualized portion of universal energy that enters our bodies by way of 5 different kinds of hair:
1) scalp hair (Crown Chakra) – Element Ether, 2) facial hair (beard) – Element Water, 3) eyebrows and lashes – Element Air 4) body hair – Element Earth and
5) pubic hair – Element Fire.
It is helpful to think of all your various kinds of hair as antennae, extending out into nature for the purpose of receiving Universe’s ongoing transmission of raw Chi ethereal energies, and transforming them into usable nutrients for our organs and body. The hair absorbs available Chi, filters out negative energies and stores any surplus Chi for healing, health maintenance and spiritual benefit.
Fernando: Fernando “before”: In this first photo, prominent blue tones identify the subject as an even-tempered, effective communicator and truth seeker. Turquoise hue signifies musical ability, and the rather subtle lavender showing on his right cheek and lip area indicate a developing intuition. However, three areas of concern arise: First, total absence of red-orange-gold coloration in this aura reveals lack of energy, vitality and needed balance. Second, the overall darkness of the subject’s aura is less than desirable. Finally, a sickly yellow-green plume surrounding Fernando’s forehead and entire scalp suggests the possibility of mental conflict and/or a health challenge.
Fernando “after”: With application of MM Pele Lava Elixir, we see one of the most dramatically changed auras ever! Restoration of brightness, balance and a complete color palette reveal spectacular improvement. A particular interesting area is the orange-gold “beneficial blast” at the precise site of Fernando’s thyroid, the gland that regulates every metabolic change in our bodies. This is an extraordinary manifestation of energy change for the better! Another very encouraging sign is the entire disappearance of yellow-green — and in its place a more emerald-tone shade, which denotes healing. But arguably this photo’s most astonishing result lies in five white “star” circles now clearly emanating overhead at the top of the aura. (This number is especially significant in that it quantifies the 5 elements comprising Creation — Air / Earth / Fire / Water / Ether — and the foundation upon which Morrocco Method International bases all formulation of its raw, 100% natural, wild-crafted, vegan products.) White, denoting purity and perfection, is the most highly prized manifestation in the light wave color spectrum.
Thank you for reading! Until next week, be happy and be healthy.
There are 2 types of Chi / Ether:
Prenatal Chi or Essence is energy inherited from parents, grandparents and multi-generations back — combined with what we bring with us, from past lives, to this experience.
Postnatal Chi or Personality is energy force gained during a lifetime, showing as a distinct aspect of self-awareness.
Coleen:
Colleen “before”: The photo of untreated hair shows a pronounced abundance of blue and turquoise tones; this shows an effective communicator with ready access to her higher self, who remains calmly confident through otherwise turbulent conditions. The small amount of purple also suggests good intuitive skills. What the present aura lacks is an essential balance that other hues would provide.
Colleen “after”: Application of MM Euro Hair Oil expands her aura into more vivid blue tones as well as a co-mingling with violet and pink — for added energy, strength and vitality. This helps Colleen with balancing her intensely thoughtful “head-in-the-clouds” mentality with staying “grounded” to deal with everyday matters that require practical thinking. We recommend the introduction of additional MM products into Colleen’s hair care regimen so that her aura will eventually manifest a more complete, balanced spectrum of coloration (i.e. green and yellow-gold for enhancement of health and well-being).
How can humans build up their postnatal Chi? Eat a variety of raw and fresh plant-based, water-filled foods. Plants digest the universal energies of sun, air and magnetic earth force –efficiently transforming them into nutrients available to all humans.
Study this essential book: .“Golden Elixir Chi Kung.” by Master Mantak Chia— recognized as the world’s foremost living authority on the subject.
Practice conscious deep breathing in the cleanest air possible. Anthony highly recommends Dr. Andrew Weil’s CD on breathing. According to Master Chia, hair acts as an external FIVE TYPES OF HAIR AND CHI “storehouse.” We can draw universal Chi back into our bodies by deepening our everyday oxygen intake using the practice of “hair breathing.”: quieting the mind to focus on feeling energy as it filters through hair; sensing as it blends and transform from universal Chi into dynamic, usable energy for all the organs of your body. By breathing through your body’s hair follicles, you are drawing Chi from the entire world around you and heightening this activity with full awareness of your senses and all your body hair. As you continue the pattern of inhaling-exhaling, it will feel as if your hair itself is breathing, with energy moving in and out of the strands. Enjoy the sensation of gathering Chi through your hair. “Hair breathing” will promote growth and optimum health of hair — excellent for everyone, but especially so for those with hair thinning or hair loss. Some people may consider this idea very new or even strange, but recalling the biblical story of Samson and Delilah makes it very easy to acknowledge the hair-energy connection which dates back to ancient times.
Chantal:
Chantal ”before”: The first photo, taken before the application of MM products, shows — in its magenta/pink and orange fullness— an intense, thoughtful, loving personality, probably with a considerable tendency toward flamboyance! However, all this energy could potentially swerve out of control, turning abrasive and causing problems, particularly in Chantal’s interactions with other people. So much of only the two hues, to the exclusion of all others, does not allow for desired balance and equilibrium of an ideal aura….
Chantal “after”: We applied MM Silver Elixir and asked Chantal to work it thoroughly through her hair and scalp. The resulting rainbow spectrum transforms her into an amazing “human prism!” Her orange energy is still quite present, which propel her strong personality forward, but now there is also a very healthy energy balancing — with deep blue for serenity, a green healing component and gold to soften the hard orange formerly dominating her facial area. There are also new plumes of white, which purify and bring Chantal’s energies further into much-improved configuration: All in all, a beautiful picture of success!
What role does human hair play in postnatal Chi energies? We all have 5 types of body hair, as mentioned above (the scalp – Element Ether/ facial/beard – Element Water / eyebrows & lashes – Element Air / hair on the rest of the body – Element Earth / pubic hair – Element Fire). This presence of “5” recurs throughout our world — as the number of senses (sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell); digits of each hand & foot and elements (air, earth, re, water, ether) that form the essential structure of our Universe.
Maggie:
Maggie “before”:
This first aura study shows clearly, in its preponderance of magenta/pink, a near-unlimited capacity to give and receive unconditional love. Gold conveys her warmth and contentment with life. There is also a hint of white, indicating the soul’s quest for perfection. Although an enviable illustration of fine personality traits, the aura is totally devoid of any blue-green hue, which throws it off-balance and deprives Maggie of a full spectrum energy flow.
Maggie “after”: With application of MM Silver Elixir, which features a strong component of grapeseed extract, the second photograph reveals a greatly improved auric balance. Blue has infused it, with (look closely!) the silhouette of an “indigo angel” just behind Maggie! Her gold streak shines even brighter and the white band is now large across the top of the photo.
What role does human hair play in postnatal Chi energies? Follicle-generated hairs, spanning the entire body, are in effect your antennae, extending out into nature and the total Universe. Become aware of your hair!
The more natural your scalp hair is and the better its condition, the more Chi/Ethereal Energy it will absorb at your Crown Chakra.
These “new” ideas — including the breathing practice — present a challenge to most people, so please be patient with yourself! At first it may be difficult to feel the “hair breathing” and other sensations of energy transference, but it will come. An attitude of faith that you can do it is very important. Relax to the flow of energy. If you find that you’re unable to concentrate or are tensing up, just stop and remember that old saying: “a journey of ten thousand miles begins with the first step. ” Be as kind as you would be to someone else struggling to grasp new concepts and give yourself permission to try again at another time.
Lysithia:
Lysithia “before”:
This photo, of untreated virgin hair, yields a relatively well-balanced aura for someone so young. Lysithia’s spectrum suggests an intelligent child with strong visual communication, who handles herself quite well under most given circumstances. However, the “little bit of headache” she reported during her initial camera session isn’t surprising given the yellow-green streak encompassing the entire crown on her head.
Lysithia “after”:
With the use of MM Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and Diamond Crystal Mist, there is astonishing transformation in her second photograph. Most remarkable is the appearance of a seeming guardian “indigo angel” just behind Lysithia! Increased energy shows in new, surrounding pink/violet, and the problematic, murky yellow-green haze has vanished…likewise her headache! Bright yellow/gold at the top of the aura denotes a happier mood and the white portion — indicating purity and ascension to perfection — has grown from a tiny speck to a dominant portion of her aura.
What role does human hair play in postnatal Chi energies? Aura portraits are allowing us to actually view the scope and quality of Chi — our vital life force energy — in each person individually. The colors in the photographs show us a dimension with so much potential for enhancement of health! Here we are into the twenty-first century with only an inkling of what can portend the future of all healing arts! But this awakening can be attributed to some early intrepid pioneers — most notably ‘the sleeping prophet.’ Edgar Cayce, who in 1945 wrote: “Apparently the aura reflects vibrations of the soul.” Cayce devoted his entire life to research and discoveries we are only beginning to comprehend. Cayce continues to say, “Color seems to be a characteristic of the vibration of matter.….through atomic patterns. We ourselves are patterns and we project colors, which are there for those who can see them..”
Now that we have the technology to capture and observe a person’s Aura, we gain an astonishing opportunity to assess — by virtue of variety, shape, intensity and blending of color — the disposition of their Chi.
Kevin:
Kevin “before”:
The first photo was taken of the subject with his natural, untreated hair.
Kevin’s spectrum shows agitation — in the topmost horizontal streaking of orange — but there is considerable reassurance in the presence of a white streak, which doesn’t often occur in an individual’s aura and indicates evolution perfection of the persona. Both the tiny amounts and separation of green and blue hues indicate that healing is probably needed in one or more areas of health. A preponderance of violet/purple — such as that showing too dominantly over Kevin’s head and face —- often indicates digestive disturbance of a minor or major extent.
Kevin “after”:
After using MM Poseidon Elixir for re-growth, Kevin’s aura now shows significant beneficial change. One particular interest is the sizeable influx of green, blue and aqua, indicating calmness and an infusion of healing energy. The blue counterbalances and diminishes the former troubling violet/purple streak, this is unquestionably a positive outcome.
DANGER: Hair Transplants Kill Your Brain! Each hair growing in your scalp springs from a follicle, its ongoing source of
nourishment and survival. This follicle, or bulb, is in turn individually connected to a single nerve ending of your brain. These connections, collectively numbering in the tens of thousands, make possible the high level of thought, feeling and sensation you access every day to experience your world.…. thanks to such an amazing gift from Nature.
Those who choose to have hair transplants done unwittingly subject themselves to irreparable damage they will inevitably live to regret — not to mention the fact that a very high percentage of these so-called “infallible” transplants simply fail to produce hair growth at all. The procedure involves removing “plugs” from a dense area of hair to be.“replanted” in a thinner or bald space. Each scalp chunk torn out represents one destroyed and irreplaceable nerve ending of your precious brain that is then gone forever. Certainly switching to an all-natural hair care regimen such as Morrocco Method International, which proudly presents the world’s only 100% natural, wild-crafted, raw and organic system — combined with the foregoing suggestions for enhancing your health — is vastly preferable to destroying your amazing brain!
Hair is the physical manifestation of our thoughts and an extension of ourselves. So pure, spiritual and sacred are the thoughts of Our Mother, the Earth, that Her hair grows long and fragrant. The Sweet Grasses found growing around the World represent the hair of Our Mother, the Earth. These special grasses have long been collected by the Native Peoples of Earth to use as incense (to perceive by the senses) for physical and spiritual healing, celebrations, for sacred prayer and purification rites. Loving all her children, the Earth allows us to share in Her loving intent and Her perfect and purifying thoughts. On the medicine wheel, Sweet grass sits in the North position, the place of Water/Consciousness, the Place of the Minder of the Universe, and the Soul of Man.
As Native People walk the Sacred Path of the Creator God, Our Hair, the physical extension of our thoughts, allows for our direction along the Path of Life. All the peoples of Earth have cultural tales/tails (tails guide beings, example; without tails-Birds could not fly, Fish could not swim and Animals would be without balance) depicting the Power of Hair/Thought, telling of the strengths of Men and Women, using thoughts/hair to defeat evil. Should you maintain pure and perfect thoughts, evil sorcerers and witches cannot use your hair in their evil ceremonies to defeat you, for they need the weaknesses in your thoughts, to cause you harm. Believe in the Power of the Creator, not in the magic of Man.
In many countries around the World, holy men and holy women are recognized by the length and glory of their hair. The cutting of hair by oppressors has long represented the submission and defeat of a People, through humiliation. The language and sacredness of hair is taught by all tribal people of Earth. The way a people comb (the alignment of thought), braid (the oneness of thought), tie (the securing of thought) and color (the conviction in thought), their hair is of great significance. Hair styles are important for they portray and announce participation in various events and the feelings expressed by an individual; the state of merriment or mourning, at a given time, or a stage of life; whether one is coming of age, marriageable or married, one’s age and tribal status. Hair can depict the tribal spirits one follows given the geographical location of a person and the spirits flowing through someone depending on their age as a spirit and the spirits that one is calling on, in a given ceremony. Different styles signify the tribe one belongs to and are worn to indicate times of peace or war.
Hairstyles like seasons change for public, private and ceremonial occasions. Hair represents the pure thoughts and spiritual status of an individual, showing the bonds and spiritual oneness of a family and defines the cultural harmony and spiritual alignment of a nation. Hair represents the pure and spiritual thoughts of all tribal people.
Everyone is given straight or curly hair, depending on the creator’s discretion. Straight, flowing hair, teaches of one that can
gracefully hold or let go of life. Thoughts can extend in a uniform manner, flowing directly from the source, like the movement of water flowing from the mountain top to the ocean, and then the water can rise up again to fall once more. For those with curly hair, they will have the potential to understand the spiral, curve and energy of life. Their thoughts teach about the decrease and enlargement of life’s movement. The winding, circular energy of movement and growth on the Earth. All thoughts in life tend to ebb and flow.
Native children are taught from a young age how to groom and care for themselves, their immediate and extended family. The children are taught that grooming one and other, unifies the bond of a family, caring for one and other strengthens the family ties, respecting one and other maintains family harmony and loving one and other defines a family’s pride. They are taught to correct one and others appearance and habits, to strengthen one and other continually, causing them to be beautiful, strengthening in them the ideal that they are an extension of the creator’s thoughts of love. They emanate from the thoughts of perfection and strive to become (to pass from one state to another and to enhance) perfection.
As children are raised up, so too is the spiritual level of teaching raised, to elevate their spirits. In youth and innocence (in-knowing-sense = freedom from guilt, sin or pain), mankind is blessed with a bounty of beautiful hair. The more pure and sacred your thoughts, the longer, healthier, and vibrant, your hair. As humans age and loose their innocence, falling off the path of light, harboring dark thoughts, losing the light of pure thought, humans loose their hair and the shine (aureole) it once had.
Caring for hair is very important, for like the sweet grasses of our Mother, the Earth, our hair holds the purity of our intent. For our thoughts can purify the thoughts of others. Native children are taught to wash and rinse hair, and are taught the proper use of the gifts of the Plant People; learning which bulbs, roots and herbs, will bring luster and light to ones hair. Maintaining the health of ones hair is important, as is maintaining all physical and spiritual health and wholeness.
They are also taught combing rites. Special combs were and in some places still are used for the sweet grass rites and ornate combs were and still are made for human hair. Careful consideration is given to the types of woods, bones, metals, jewels, and brush materials, as well as the symbols and (spirit) designs, for the best physical and spiritual purpose, of the task of combing ones hair. The porcupine shared itself by giving native women a sacred comb, which was made from the bone found on the underside of the porcupine’s tail. After taking the skin off, drying it and making a wooden handle, it was ready to use.
Combing is the act of separating and adjusting the hair so that it will lay or move in the best or most beautiful way. Native families, knowing that our hair is the physical manifestation of our thoughts, also understand that our thoughts need to be corrected and adjusted by the Creator, so that we will move gracefully along the Beauty Way, the Sacred Path of Life.
When combing our hair each day, we are re-minded to keep our thoughts pure. The hair that falls out and gathers in our brushes and combs, is gathered up and kept in a special place or pouch, for the 28 days of the Moon/month. This hair is a recollection, a record of our past thoughts and deeds. At the time of the Full Moon, the time of illumination and completeness, the hearts of the families, the women, gather in ceremony and offer the thoughts of their families, their bundled hair, to the Spirits of Fire, Earth and Air.
When our offerings of hair are placed in fire, our thoughts are uplifted, sent through the smoke, moved by the power of the Moon, and prayerfully given to our Father, the Creator God or if buried, returned to Our Mother, the Earth and She relays our intent to through the Moon, to Our Father. In this way, the Creator reads your families thoughts and sends his spirits/angels to guide you on the Sacred Path, correcting your Mind, Heart and Soul, strengthening the Body of Oneness, till the next full Moon. Holding sacred thoughts, choosing to walk a path of light, One that is pleasing to the Creator God, strengthens the individual family, and the greater family of universal oneness, that every one is a part of.
Your hair teaches you that your thoughts are to flow in all directions, but are to be informally directed. Yellow, red, black and white the four colors of hair symbolizing the major directions of Earth, and the direction of those constant in the flow of thought/ Spirit. Also, the four directions in between, gold, orange, brown, blue/grey, hair indicating those continual in thought/spirit, flowing throughout the universe. Your hair is just one way of indicating to others another conviction you carry throughout your lifetime. When the color of your hair changes, naturally, that means you have been elevated, by God. You have more responsibility in and for Life.
You were given a sacred color of hair to wear and you were never to bleach (whiten) or dye your hair. Even the word dye/die when used for coloring states the death or divination of a God-given thought and purpose. Dying (destined for death) ones hair places your desires before the thoughts of God. Bleaching ones hair to change spiritual status, does not make one an elder or pre-dating Spirit, for you are born who you are, chosen, and elevated by God, not by mankind. In native ceremonies when ocher and hennas were used on hair it was understood that it was for a sacred purpose and spirit (God) inspired, and the natural color would naturally return.
The act of cutting your hair is the cutting off of the flow of thought. You actually sever away past thoughts from future deeds. Cutting your hair usually occurs when one chooses to make a major change in ones life, putting past misdeeds behind them, and beginning a new/knew life. In native teachings, many tribes cut their hair during the mourning process, which symbolizes the deep wound to ones sensibilities caused by the piercing hurt of a loved ones passing.
Other tribes, remembering that they are spirits that live forever, cut their hair after a year of mourning. Symbolic of the severing of their ties, freeing the spirit of their loved ones, allowing them to enter the morning of the next world. Ready to start a new life, knowing they must respect and honor their loved one, they feast and urge their loved ones’ spirit on. Demonstrating their love for all life, they signal they too are ready to start a new day, a new morning. For in wisdom, they except the greater cycle of life. They know the body of their past love, was given back to the Earth and the spirit of their loved one, needs to return to the Sol/Star their spirits emanate from, to be re-aligned in the body of oneness, being reborn as their future and the renewed children of Earth.
Even the time of cutting your hair is important, for all things need to be in harmony with the natural rhythm and flow of the Universe. Cutting old thoughts, harvesting full grown ideas, cutting all ties, is best on the Full Moon. For fresh starts, like the planting time, for new seeds of thought, or for the trimming, pruning and monthly maintenance, we cut our hair by the light of the New Moon, so it will grow thick and quick.
Young men are often seen with braids of sweet grass for personal purification rites. In some tribes, men weave sweet grass into their braids to unify their thoughts with their Mother, the Earth, strengthening their thoughts of Oneness. This demonstrates the way in which hair is used to extend and bind your thoughts with others.
By attaching a lock of a loved ones hair, in your hair, or by carrying their hair on your person, One is able to carry the thoughts of their loved ones with them on their travels. It is so important to have your families spiritual support and protective thoughts (prayers) in life generally, that the hair of ones family and the hair of their protective spirits, was braided into a warriors battle dress for added strength and stamina. It is generally understood that you do not touch a person’s hair without permission.
Sweet grass headbands (the things that keep your brains in) (joke) are worn for concentration, to purify thought. The aroma of sweet grass clears the mind. Sweet grass necklaces or collars refer to the Spirit that is born head-first, and is used to call-in / collar the Spirit of Wisdom you are descended from. Sweet grass braids, like the braids on your head symbolize the serpents of wisdom, that keep you on the Sacred Path of Light. It is the double-headed serpent that warns you with a shake of its tail, should you step off the path of light, to get back on the sacred path or suffer the venomous bites of despair, depression or death, depending how far you wander.
Braids symbolize oneness and unity. The flowing strands of hair, individually weak but when joined together in Oneness, physically demonstrate the strength of oneness; “One mind, one heart and one soul”, the Song of the Uni-verse, and the sacred thoughts you are to hold. There are times to wear the hair braided and times to let it flow free, different times to demonstrate your harmony with the flow of life and to demonstrate your thoughts of Oneness to others.
There are different teachings about the way to braid ones hair, and different teachings about the ways and rites of braiding Sweetgrass.
One way is to gather 28 whole strands of sweet grass, one strand symbolizing each sacred day in one moon(month). Divide them in three equal piles, 9 strands each, each pile symbolizing the wandering spirits of the 3 tiers of Heaven (upper world, middle world, lower world), and with the one strand that is left, the strand that Symbolizes the Great Spirit, the Creator God(Father Sun), you tie all the loose strands together. Remembering as you braid the sweet grass, to keep your thoughts and intent pure and healthy, placing the prayers of love for life into your braid. It is the intent placed in the medicine that makes all healing possible. To end the braid, tie a knot with the grass. A Knot is symbolic of Union and a bond. The tie that binds. The knot in the sweet grass braid also binds all the “thoughts” of our Mother together, to teach us, once again of the strength of Unity or Oneness.
Know it is only the Creator’s power that holds the Universe together and the wandering spirits are his great spirits that flow and protect Life all the way to the outer edges of the Universe and the 3 tiers of Heaven are the lower, middle and upper worlds or the Sea, Earth and Sky(Universe) where all the Great Spirits dwell. Keeping thoughts of love and respect for all life in your mind and heart, allows one to share the sacred sweet grass with others in a good way.
When working with the sacred medicines, our intent should be as pure as the intent of our selfless Mother, the Earth. She wants only the best for her children. So hold sacred thoughts; thoughts of oneness and healing thoughts; thoughts of empowerment and love, when braiding and using sweet grass. Soon all nations will be strong again.
The idea of the elements has been a part of our psyche, our hopes and dreams over the centuries. Through our experience with the natural world and the imaginal world where we see beyond the veil of our 3-dimensional reality, we have created myths, archetypes, philosophies, religions, and lore replete with fairies, witches, gods, and demons of earth, water, fire, air, and space who whisper to us and whom we even call upon for strength and inspiration. And when things go wrong, even in these more ―sophisticated‖ days we ponder whether the affliction or obstacle we are experiencing is because we have either ignored, offended, or abused these elemental deities and forces. This kind of thinking is not some mental illness or throwback to a more primitive, superstitious way of seeing our universe. Rather, it is our connection to the unseen, the realm of subtle energies where form meets emptiness, where our hearts connect with a rich, magical world of possibility that is always available to us – so long as we heed and learn how to listen, understand, and interact and bring this magic and mystery into our lives. In the description of fairies, pixies, gods and goddesses of the elemental realms, one of the most pronounced features mentioned is their hair; the wind swept hair of the air fairies, the silky smooth hair of the water goddesses, the white or fiery manes of the fire deities, the rich full head had of hair of the earth spirits. And, in both the east and west, when tales are told that personify creativity and the unknown, one often reads of three types of ladies, each who have their connection to the elements; hags, witches, and princesses.
In the case of hags and witches, we in the west tend to have a more negative take on them. For example in the fairy tale of ―The Tinder Box‖ the hag who tells the soldier where he can find three chests of money and her special little box, is beaten to death by the soldier. He keeps the money and the hag‘s little box which ends up being a box of elemental magic where the soldier can create anything he desires. In the east, hags are often portends of information unseen as well as knowledge. They appear to the person they need to pass on their message to and then vanish back into the ethers. And so, they are related to the element Ether. And their hair is out of control, long and frizzy and shooting out in all directions.
As for witches, they are master alchemists, mixing and blending botanicals and all sorts of things, for good or evil – depending on their inclinations. In the west, they are decried and maligned not so much because what they do is good or bad, but that they can do what they do in the first place! In the east, however, it all comes down to intention, and so witches and those most like them in these days, shamans, are called upon for their wisdom and mastery of the elements. Being a hair shaman myself, I am honored to be in their company! And the hair of witches? Sometimes it is like that of the hag, but other times it is thick, bushy, exotic, sometimes long and flowing. In the east, there are many different colored semi-wrathful female deities with amazingly exotic heads of hair who are called upon for any number of activities; for wisdom, for protection, for inspiration.
Lastly, we have the princesses. In both the west and the east, they are dressed beautifully and well quaffed. But, what I see in the west is more of the subduing of their elements. The princess is reigned in, her elements controlled. She is made powerless and reduced to eye candy – and ultimately fulfilled by marriage and being subservient to the whim and power of modern society (do not wish to say man here) . (And today, the myth goes on where our Hollywood and well-financed princesses are also put in a chemical prison of pharmaceuticals ingested and poisons donned and chemicals sprayed upon their hair!) In the east, the imagery of princess is one who is embellished. More is added to her continence to magnify and demonstrate the balance of the elements that she embodies. She is truly a monarch; truly divine. In my days at Kenneth‘s, I saw both kinds of princesses. It was a lot more interesting to be around the latter kind! And, I have equally been graced by having hags and witches as dear friends and acquaintances. Although, we may imagine that fairy stories, tales of elementals, of hags, witches, and princesses are just a thing of the past, that we just nostalgically hold onto, they are strong archetypes that persist. There are to this day entire systems of healing that recognize the magical power and usefulness in honoring and working with elemental energies. The ones I was exposed to in the years that helped me to formulate HairRevolution are Chinese medicine and Ayurveda

According to the ancient wisdom of Shamans who consider hair a sacred part of our body, there are 5 elements each month that are ideal for cutting hair. Within those 5 elements there are times that will enhance different aspects of hair growth that I have discussed previously, such as its strength, its thickness, its length, the strengthening of its roots and its general beautification — provided that it is cut on the appropriate days. To have our hair cut on the remaining, inauspicious days of that month would actually retard the growth of our hair.
Yet, knowing when the retardation period of hair growth is occurring can be a useful tool for our hair care as well. Thus, harvesting unwanted hair at this time is ideal. It would slow down its re-growth, making it a perfect time to pluck your eyebrows and shave your legs. The hair will grow back more slowly, if at all. To a certain extent, then, the old wives’ tale is true: when the moon is waning, wax the hair you are trying to get rid of.
That being said the most beneficial days indicated on our lunar chart for retarding hair growth, meaning shaving, plucking or waxing, coming up in the month of August are as follows: 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29!! Clearly, having your hair cut using the 13 moon Lunar Cycles of the Earth can provide you with an excellent tool for the ultimate in natural, holistic hair care.
Happy healthy hair,
