Last year, my boyfriend broke up with me, starting in the same month that I lost my job (April). I started a new job in November, after serving as a program assistant at a yoga retreat center during an intensive, immersion, month-long prana yoga teacher training program near Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica. I then started a new job in November of last year (5 days after returning from my long trip). This year, I got inspired by a student on the Yoga Teacher Training program who had a friend buzz off all of her hair the day after last year’s election, and I buzzed off my hair (at a salon that uses Intelligent Nutrients products) on 7/14. That date isn’t listed on this month’s lunar chart; does that mean it’s not auspicious at all? Since buzzing off my hair, I’ve gotten a LOT of compliments–even from strangers! I felt recently (even before reading your blogs and eBook) that my chi has been high. Could that be due to cutting off all of my colored hair, thus revealing my grey, natural, untreated hair? I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on it. It’s so fantastic, I’m thinking of keeping it this short for some time. So easy! Every day is a good hair day!
Thank you,
Denise”
Anthony’s Answer:
Dear Denise,
Thanks for your updated adventures and concerns:
First of all, it sounds like you were in alignment for changes: First your boyfriend broke off the relationship, then you broke off from your old job.
Sounds like a time for new beginnings and ending of relationships and situations that were not working for you, so timing is very critical with endings and beginnings:
Yes, the day you shaved your head was July 14th a good day for Pisces to see the best in a situation for Feminine mutable flowing energies.
Sounds like you removed your colored damaged chemical treated hair for a new beginning of healthy natural hair: Yes, your CHI ENERGIES will soar from liberation from the past and creating new Energies for the present and immediate future!
p.s. Check out our Lunar Calendar and use the elements of Strengthening / Beautifying / Root Work and alternate these days one per cut.
Sounds like a new Mantra Every Day is a Good Hair Day:”
Bravo congratulations!

How does your hair breath and store excess energy?
Sincerely,
Donna”
Anthony’s Answer:
Hi Donna,
One must consciously breathe into the hair through the 5 types of hair on the body.
For this technique choose only one type and hold there for a count of four.
Breathing Technique: 4 x 4 x 4 x 4
When holding your breath, place your attention on one of the 5 types of hair: Scalp, Facial, fine, Body and Pubic hair.
Breathe up your back for a count of 4.
Hold on top of your head (Crown Chakra) for a count of 4.
Breathe down in front of your body for a count of 4.
Hold breath for 4 counts at the soles of your feet.
THE 5 TYPES OF HAIR ON ONES BODY
1) scalp hair – (Crown Chakra).
2))fine hair- eyebrows, lashes, ear and nose (Third Eye Chakra)
3) facial hair- beard (Throat Chakra)
4) pubic hair – (Sex Chakra)
5) body hair – (Navel and Root chakra)

What is the hair breathing technique? How and when do you use it?

Anthony’s Answer:
Hi Patty,
Technique Sensing the Hair and its Surplus Chi Energy
The basic premise here is that the hair is the external storehouse of surplus Chi Energy for the physical body.
Breathing Technique: 4 x 4 x 4 x 4
Start:
1. Start by breathing in with the attention on the soles of your feet
2. Breathe for a count of four going up the back of your body starting at the soles of the feet slowly up to the top of your head
3. Hold the breath for a count of four at the top of the head (“Crown Chakra”).
4. Breathe down the front of your body for a count of four, stopping at the soles of the feet.
5. Hold your breath at the soles of your feet for a count of four. When holding your breath, place your attention on one of the 5 types of hair: Scalp, Fine, Facial, Pubic and Body hair.
6. Do this 20 times in a row while visualizing the chi energy being stored into the 5 types of body hair. THUS storing Chi into ones Hair:
REPEAT the above 3 times and allow the Chi Energies to settle into your Hair:
THE 5 TYPES OF HAIR ON ONES BODY
1) scalp hair – (Crown Chakra).
2))fine hair- eyebrows, lashes, ear and nose (Third Eye Chakra)
3) facial hair- beard (Throat Chakra)
4) pubic hair – (Sex Chakra)
5) body hair – (Navel and Root chakra)

Yoga movements, such as forward bending poses increase blood and oxygen supply to the face and head, thereby stimulating the nerves of the scalp. These poses also help reduce stress by switching from sympathetic to parasympathetic nervous system. Some other yoga poses help relieve tension and anxiety from the body and improve digestion, which ensures the nutrients are well absorbed and carried to support our health. Breathing exercises help to oxygenate the body and scalp, which also helps in maintain a healthy hair, while some hand poses –like those including the rubbing of the nails– help revitalize hair follicles connected to the nails. The reason why there is improvement when practicing the rubbing methods is because the nerves under the nail have direct connection to the nerves in the scalp, thus the generated friction by the nails help in stimulating flow of blood and oxygen to the scalp. When practiced for a sufficient time, these yoga and Pranayama techniques can promote hair growth and strength.
Adho Mukha Savasana
This one of the best yoga poses for hair growth, which promotes blood circulation in the head and the crown region which in turn nourishes the hair follicles.
Start on your hands and feet with your knees and hands touching the ground and hands kept perpendicular to the knees and shoulders. Now straighten your legs by pushing the hips out and stand on your toes. Push the floor with your palms and straighten your spine. Now, pull your hips down slowly and come back to the starting position.
Uttanasana
It promotes blood supply to the head and aids in preventing hair fall and to improve the quality, thickness and texture of hair. Stand with your legs close. Take a deep breath, lift up your hands while you exhale and then bend forward and touch the floor with your hands. Stay in this forward bending position for a few seconds while breathing normally and then stand back straight while taking a deep breath.
Vajrasana
When you perform this asana, blood circulation in the scalp increases, and it enables the hair follicles to grow.
Kneel down on the floor with your spine kept straight and heels together. Put your hands on your thighs, palms facing down. Relax and take deep breaths for 1 minute and then stretch your legs forward.
Apanasana
This is one of the most functional yoga poses to prevent hair loss, which purifies the body and flushes out toxins from the system. It purifies the blood and improves the growth of hair by stimulating the hair follicles. Lie on your back and pull your knees in towards your chest while exhaling. Move your legs up with the strength of your thighs rather than your arms to pull them up, hold this position for a few seconds. Now, inhale and let your legs move away from your chest. Let your breath direct your movement.
Sasangasana
This is a beneficial yoga asana for hair growth, because in order to perform this asana you need to touch your crown to the ground, which helps the blood to flow to the head. Proper blood circulation to the scalp means healthy and strong hair.
Kneel down on the floor with your hips resting on your heels. Now, bend forward and touch the crown of your head on the floor and hold your heels with your hands. Hold this position for 5 breaths and come back to the starting position.
Balayam Yoga
You will just need to rub the fingernails of both hands together. Curl your fingers inwards so that the point towards your palm. Now, bring your hands together so that the nails of all the fingers are in contact with each other. Make sure each nail touches the corresponding nail in the other hand. Rub them vigorously for 5 minutes. Don’t use the thumbnails for this exercise.
Kapalbhati Pranayama
This pose helps the brain receive more oxygen so that it promotes the functions of the nervous system and removes toxins from the body.
Sit in Padmasana or Lotus Pose with your legs folded. Now, throw out your breath forcefully and breathe in softly. Repeat this breathing technique for 5 minutes non-stop.
Bhastrika Pranayama
This is another pranayama that helps remove excess bile, phlegm and wind from the body. It also purifies the blood and the nervous system. This in turn helps promote hair growth.
This is a forceful breathing exercise in which you sit in Vajrasana position and clench your fists and bring them beside your shoulder. Now forcefully breathe in as you push your hands upwards and breathe out as you lower them down.
Anulom Vilom
It is a simple, alternate breathing technique that helps to keep the lungs healthy and fight the free radicals produced due to stress. It promotes proper circulation throughout the body and helps relieve cold and promotes the growth of healthy hair by nourishing the scalp.
Sit in the Padmasana or Lotus Pose and place the thumb of one hand on one nostril and fold the index finger. Keep the ring finger straight so that it can be used to close the other nostril. Now, inhale deeply through the open nostril, close it with the index finger, open the other nostril and exhale through it. This makes 1 cycle. To begin the next cycle inhale through the same nostril that you exhaled out of and repeat the breathing process.
Final Tips for Healthy Hair
Your hair health is the reflection of your inner health, so not only what you put onto your body is important, but also what you put into it. The best way to get your nutrients into your system is by eating whole foods and to stay away from processed foods, since these contain chemicals that our bodies don’t recognize and end up damaging our metabolism. This applies to cosmetics, lotions, hair products and lotions. Since our skin is transdermal, meaning that it absorbs anything that is put onto it, putting on it only 100% natural products to clean it, like the Morrocco Method Feng Shea Scrub, will give your skin the oils and moisture it needs without exposing yourself to toxic side effects.
In Ayurveda, the Nadi system (Nadi, coming from the word Nad which means motion, flow or vibration) is a group of energy channels that carry prana (life) force throughout the body. They connect our nerves, as well as the subtle circuitry (yoga nadis) of the mind, self and consciousness matrix that supports our physical presence.
There are thousands of nadis in our body, but in Ayurveda there are three main ones:
– Ida Nadi: The feminine aspect of our personality. It also controls the function of the parasympathetic nervous system; this system calms the mind.
– Pingala Nadi: The masculine aspect of our personality. It controls the sympathetic or fight-or-flight system.
– Sushama Nadi: This is the central channel of energy that runs from the base of the spine to the crown of the head and carries Kundalini energy, the primal source of evolutionary force within. Sushama Nadi only opens and flows freely when Ida and Pingala Nadis are balanced and clear.
Besides the Nadis, other important forces that run our bodies and sustain life are the doshas. They assist with the creation of all the various tissues of the body and to remove any unnecessary waste products. Even if they may be numerous, the main three are:
– Vata: Associated with wind, it governs all movement –the flow of breath, the pulsation of the heart, all muscle contractions, tissue movements, cellular mobility—and communication throughout the mind and nervous system.
– Pitta: Made up of the fire and water elements, it governs nutrition, metabolism, body temperature, digestion and is related to intelligence and understanding.
– Kapha: Composed of earth and water elements. It hydrates all cells and systems, lubricates joints, moisturizes the skin, maintains immunity and protects the tissues.
In order for Prana to flow freely through the system, the pathways must be cleared and balanced. When this happens, the result is overall health, wellness of the body and mind, and spiritual growth. However, some life events may upset the natural state of the internal equilibrium and result in blocking these channels. The body then may express this imbalance in a number of symptoms such as intestinal malabsorption, depression, dry skin, among others. The way this reflects on the scalp is with PH imbalances, dandruff, dryness, and even loss of the hair to name a few.
Nadi Ways to a Healthy Hair
There can be a wide range of cosmetic treatments for scalp damage and hair loss, like over-the-counter shampoos and other topical application liquids, medicines, and steroids, all claiming to stop hair loss and improve hair health; however, people continue to lose hair since these products end up being more damaging than helpful due to the high degree of toxicity in the ingredients and the internal body reaction to them. That’s why, we recommend besides detoxifying, that people stick to 100% natural hair care products, remedies and tonics, such as the Morrocco Method Elixirs. These elixirs promote further repair, restoration, revitalization and rejuvenation of hair and scalp.
Another important element in holistic health, that will help promote a healthier scalp, is targeted movement that will aid clearing your Nadis and balance your doshas to allow Prana to move freely. These movements are an important part of any Yoga practice. There are some basic yoga Asanas, Pranayamas and hand gestures that enhance blood circulation to the scalp, improve digestion, as well as reduce stress and anxiety levels in the mind –Some of the main causes of hair loss and scalp imbalances. These methods also improve oxygen consumption by the cells of the scalp and supply necessary nutrients to the scalp.
To further protect your hair and scalp from, wear a well-fitting swim cap [we don’t want it tight because tightness restricts blood flow, plus most caps will not keep the water completely out] while swimming to protect hair from too much chlorine exposure. Ideally you wet your hair before entering the chlorinated pool with less chlorinated tap water. Once the hair is already wet it will absorb less pool water.
You also want to make sure that you don’t brush your hair when it’s wet since it’s one of the biggest cause of breakage and loss of elasticity. [the biggest cause of breakage are chemicals] and to not wash it every day, since it dries out and strips away the natural oils from the hair. Finally, to promote scalp health, make your scalp your main aim, when shampooing apply shampoo directly onto your scalp; and whenever possible, you can massage some hair oils, like the Morroco Method Euro Oil, to give a boost in scalp moisture that will be reflected on every hair strand.

I’m a Caucasian female who uses no heat or color. I use a boar bristle brush from Morrocco Method and shampoo! Love it all! But I’m experiencing breakage(?) from the crown to the ends on every strand. It’s horrible and I have no idea what to do! Every strand the whole way down has these little off shoots coming out every where. What can I do? Please help!!!
Sincerely,
Lisa”
Anthony’s Answer:
Hi Lisa,
Sounds as if you are describing your whole head of hair is consisting of split ends. How long is your hair? It is our experience that it is rarely every single hair split on a person’s head. Mostly, the hair, which grows out of the crown splits. This happens because it is exposed to sun, wind and covers the rest of the hair. It is also the hair subjected to hair ties and friction through head covers. I suggest to determine exactly where your hair which is splitting is coming from and then do a split-end hair repair through cutting them. Choose lunar days and if it is a lot do one section per week. Check our blog entry on split ends. Continue to care for your hair gently, washing the scalp rather than the hair. Use our oils for the ends to prevent further breakage. This will require effort but with time you should be able to eliminate the split ends.
